Service Description

This course is designed to introduce new shooters to safe, sound, and effective firearms practices. In this course, we will help you build, from the ground up, the knowledge and habits that will allow you to enjoy firearms for years to come. This safety focused course includes an in-depth review of the four universal firearm safety rules, handgun components, nomenclature, assembly, disassembly, cleaning, handling, principles of marksmanship, and gear considerations. Our instructors begin with the basics so you become a safe and competent member of the firearm community. This is the perfect course if you’ve just purchased your first handgun and want to learn the best practices for safe and effective use.
This course contains both “classroom” and “range” training, though both may take place outdoors. Lunch is not provided, so please bring your own refreshments. There will be a lunch break. Required firearm gear: A pistol of your choice, a minimum of 2 magazines for your sidearm, outside the waistband (OWB) holster, eye protection (sunglasses or safety glasses work, you can even use the ones at your local big box home improvement store), ear protection (over the ear “muffs” recommended; electronic is better, but not required), 200 rounds of your chosen ammo (we will almost certainly not shoot this many, but extra is always better than too little). If there is something on the list you have questions about or are unable to obtain, please let one of the instructors know. We have limited quantities of gear that you can rent. Recommended firearm gear: Cleaning kit for your chosen firearm (If you are unsure about how to clean your firearm, no problem! Pick up a cleaning kit, and we’ll show you how to use it). Recommended non-firearm gear: A folding chair, notebook and writing utensil, plenty of water and a water bottle, snacks/food, sunscreen, bug spray, hat, towel, hand sanitizer, appropriate attire for the weather. NO OPEN-TOED SHOES. Shirts that have low necklines or are very loose fitting are not recommend. Only extreme weather cancels classes. If it rains, we trains! Feel free to reach out with any questions you may have. This course is a passion, as both instructors find great fulfillment in working with new shooters, believing that the 2nd Amendment is foundational to a productive society and is predicated upon citizens learning responsible firearm principles.
